HP printer setup (Apple AirPrint for iPhone, iPad)
AirPrint is a built-in printing solution for Apple iOS and iPadOS. You can print from most apps that have a print feature.
Set up the printer network connection
Make sure the printer and your Apple device are connected to the same wireless network.
1. On your Apple device, make sure Wi-Fi is turned on and there is a check mark next to the name of your local Wi-Fi network. If you are connected to a different network, tap the name of your network to join it.

- Printers with a touchscreen control panel: Touch the Wireless icon or open the Network Settings or Setup menu to view the network connection status.
- Printers without a touchscreen control panel: Press the Wireless and Information buttons at the same time, or press the Wireless and Start Copy Black buttons at the same time. A Wireless Test Report prints with the network connection status.
The printer connection status should be Connected or Ready. If it is not, continue with these steps to connect your printer to the network.
3. Connect the printer to the network.
- Printers with a touchscreen control panel: Open the Setup, Network, or Wireless menu, select Wireless Setup Wizard, and then follow the instructions to connect the printer to your network.
- Printers without a touchscreen control panel: Press and hold the Wireless and Cancel buttons at the same time until the Power light blinks, and then wait for the Wireless light to blink. Within two hours, press and hold the WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) button on the router until the connection process begins. The Wireless light on the printer stops blinking when the connection completes.
- HP Deskjet 6000 and 6400, ENVY 6000 and 6400, and Tango printers: Press and hold the Wireless button on the rear of the printer for five seconds until the Edge lighting flashes blue or purple. Within two hours, press and hold the WPS button on the router until the connection process begins. The Wireless light on the printer stops blinking when the connection completes.

Print documents, photos, and web pages from iPhone and iPad apps with a print feature.
- Make sure the printer is turned on, cartridges are installed, and the paper you want to print on is loaded in the correct paper tray.
- Open the item you want to print, and then tap the Share icon ( or ).
- Tap Print or the Print icon .
- Select your printer, and then change print settings such as paper size, number of copies, or page range. Available settings depend on the app you are printing from, the print job type, and your printer.

What if a 'No AirPrint Printers Found' message displays?
Troubleshoot the connection and AirPrint.
Check the network connection: Make sure your mobile device and printer are connected to the same wireless network, the Wi-Fi signal is strong. Try restarting the printer or disconnecting and reconnecting it to the wireless network.
Make sure AirPrint is enabled: Type the printer IP address into a Safari browser on your mobile device to open the EWS. In the Network section, make sure the AirPrint status is On.
How do I use AirPrint if a Wi-Fi network is not available?
Send a print job using a Wi-Fi Direct printer connection. Complete these steps while next to the printer.
- Make sure paper is loaded in the main tray, and then turn on the printer.
- If you want to print web content, such as an email or cloud-based document, open the item before proceeding.
- On your mobile device, open the Wi-Fi network menu, and then select your printer with DIRECT in the name.
- If prompted, enter the Wi-Fi Direct password, and then tap Join.
