The Startup Optimizer utility alerted me to programs that were slowing down my computer when I tested it. Avira provided me with two optimization options after scanning my system: standard and super boost. My typical start time decreased from approximately 180 seconds to 151. This is an improvement, but the rate is still rather sluggish.

I was very delighted by the Hyper Boost tool. This required five complete restarts to optimize my start time. While the process took some time, the wait was well worth it, as my boot time decreased to 62 seconds – considerably above the 25% reduction that Avira boasts! Avira suggests only utilizing turbo boost once every six months, however if your machine is slow to boot up, it is well worth the effort spent.

I loved Avira's power cleaner tool because it searched my system for superfluous files and other performance-degrading issues (like registry errors and browser trash). I was able to incorporate a lot of battery-saving features on my Android phone, indicating that mobile devices are becoming more useful. Using the smart optimization settings could be advantageous if your phone's battery life is really short.

The driver updater and duplication finder are unnecessary features, as neither one is required. The ability to search for new drivers is convenient, but if you routinely update your system software, you probably already have the most recent versions of your applications. Eliminating duplicate files is a function that I'm sure some users will find useful, but unless your storage drives are continuously full, it's unlikely to be of much use to you.
